Wattpad is a social storytelling app by Wattpad.com that lets you read original stories, novels, fanfiction, and poetry or write and publish your own. Built around a global community, the free app hosts millions of stories in more than 25 languages and requires Android 7.0 or higher. The current release, version 11.41.1, focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements rather than new headline features. Beyond reading, you can comment directly on chapters, vote for favorites, build a personal library, download stories for offline use, and receive alerts when new chapters appear. Your reading and writing progress syncs across devices when you sign in, so you can keep your place whether you are on a phone, tablet, or computer. The app is ad-supported and includes optional in-app purchases, and its content is rated Teen, which is worth noting since some popular genres such as mafia, dark romance, and werewolf fiction lean toward mature themes. Several hit adaptations, including The Kissing Booth, After, and Perfect Addiction, began as stories on this platform, which helps explain its broad appeal. With over 100 million installs and a rating of about 3.73 from more than five million reviews, it remains one of the most visible social reading apps available.
